너는 사랑이란 걸 아니?
do you know what’s call love?
아냐 사실 나도 모르겠어…
no~ in fact I have no idea about it too…
단지 모르는 게 Ye
just don’t know it Ye
가슴이 뜨겁고 막 뛰고 자꾸 눈물이 흘러 나
my heart feels hot and I keep running and keep tearing up
어떻게 해야하는 거니.
what should I do?
찾아가 무릎 꿀으면 되니…
Should I go pleading with bent knees?
나도 모르게 Ye
I don’t know too Ye
계속 너를 찾고 또 뛰고, 걷다 보면 또 제자리야
I keep finding you and running, I’m back to the original spot even when I keep walking
Do you not love me Do you not want to forget

새로 시작하려 해도
even if I want to start anew
쉽게 되지가 않는 우리 사랑
It doesn’t seems easy for our love
내 기억. 추억들~
My memories. sweet memories~
더 이상 감출 수조차 없는 내가 되었으니~
I have become someone who can no longer hide it
지난 날은 잊어~
forget the old days~
오직 서로만 지켜 가면 돼
We just need to have the 2 of us
이제 우린 알 수 있잖아.
know we know it, don’t we
말하지 않아도 알잖아
we know it even if we don’t say it out
매일, 멀지 않던 어제만 소리 치면 되
tomorrow, we will shout out of the yesterday that isn’t too far
말하지 못해서 미안해
i’m sorry that I can’t say it
사랑한다 그대여
i love you my dear
몇 번이고 전화도 해봤어
maybe times i’ve tried calling
무슨 말을 할까 고민했어…
I’ve been thinking about what to say…
나도 모르게 Ye~
I don’t know it too Ye~
잠을 자고 일어날 때도 계속 너를 찾게 되는 거야
even as I fall asleep and wake up, I can’t stop myself from wanting to find you
날 봐 지금의 나를 봐
look at me, look at the me now
너무나 변해버린 내 모습 좀 어색하지만 기다려
Although it feels awakward because I’ve changed so much, wait
너무 멀어지지 말자 내 앞에 세상과 약속할테니
let’s not be too far apart, I make a promise to the world ahead of me

(Cuisine) Quick ‘n Easy Korean Banchan(sidedish) recipe- Tofu Jun

19 Feb

Here’s the quick banchan to try…you just need couple eggs, flour, and tofu.

It’s basically the same steps with Hobak/Zucchini Jun but just use Tofu.

You can make both of them at the same time and you get 2 banchan. If you made too much at once, you can always save them and heat it up again. That’s what we did for couple days.

They are easy to make, healthy, and yummy~!! Hope you like it as much as I do.

So shall we start?
I sliced tofu into good bite sizes. Make sure not to slice too thin. Just thick enough like the following picture.

Sprinkle some salt lightly evenly over the tofu. Just enough not too much!

I lightly turn them over and sprinkle some salt again so the salt gets evenly distributed.

Just make sure you don’t crumble them. Ha ha…

Get a bowl for flour and a bowl for eggs. Oh add some salt in the eggs again so the eggs and tofu taste goes together nicely. Sorry, I took the picture when I was almost done…

Usually I end up cracking too much eggs so I chop some scallions and fry leftover eggs afterwards…you know the one you fry and roll up like a roll cake? Another banchan for you there!

So, back to the recipe…

1. coat each tofu slice with flour. Coat it evenly all over so eggs will stick all over as well. I use hands to coat flour and toss gently couple times on hand to shake off excess flour. I don’t want to eat chunk of flour you see…

2. Now, drop in the stirred eggs and I use a spoon to pick it up. And on to the pan!

Lightly coat with oil and cook it. I used the griddle since I was making a big batch. I think temp was about 325 degrees.

You can eat Tofu raw so just make sure you cook eggs thoroughly. If eggs are all cooked, you are done~! Yay.

You can dip in soy sauce or eat it as it is.

Don’t forget to try Zucchini Jun too!
Enjoy!

(Anime) 10 Best Anime Movies

19 Feb

The 10 best anime movies can and will be widely debated due to the enormous fan base and the ever improving quality and storylines. The one thing which is not debatable is that anime movies have come to stay in the hearts of young and old.

1. “The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya” is a dramatic and comical story of Kyon who has to solve a mystery that only he seems to know. Expecting a Christmas party with the rest of his SOS Brigade, which tantalizingly includes a hot pot, Kyon arrives at school and experiences what seems to him like an alternative reality. No one except him knows about the SOS Brigade, any of its members or Chief Haruhi. As the sole member of the literary club, Kyon makes it his mission to find answers, running into some very strange and supernatural situations.

2. “Spirited Away” is deservedly one of the best anime movies because it is the first anime movie to have won the “Academy Award” for best animated feature of 2002. Chihiro and her parents stumble upon the bathing house for the spirits. As humans, they are not greeted with hospitality, but the beautiful surroundings were mistaken by the weary travelers. Chihiro’s parents make the mistake of eating from the forbidden feast and as a result they are turned into pigs. Chihiro is determined to rescue them and has to learn very fast to look out for herself.

3. “Princess Mononoke” was released under huge controversy by Disney, yet remains one of the best anime movies, bringing fantasy and adventure together with great drama. Ashitaka is burdened with a horrid curse, while fighting in defense of his village. On his quest to find a cure, he gets caught up in a war between the Forest Gods and the village ruled by Lady Ebhoshi.

4. “Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance” makes it as one of the best anime movies. With two parallel storylines, one is gripped by the mystery surrounding the appointment of Makinami Mari Illustrious and Asuka Langley Shikinami in lieu of the constant attack by Angels and the suspense of the secret project of Rei and Shinji.
5. “Akira” has to be among the ten best anime movies. With many intriguing storylines and trends to follow, ambitious artwork and the portrayal of deep and sinister Neo Tokey, you are gripped from start to finish. This anime movie was a mere taste of what the following twenty years of anime would bring.

6. “Howls Moving Castle” is about a young girl who falls under a spell cast to make her appear old and haggard. She has to pin her hopes on a wizard who lives in a rambling, walking and living old castle. The wizard holds the key to her youthfulness.

7. “Ghost in The Shell” inspires the word “cool” to be uttered everywhere it is mentioned. The exciting cyber punk style combined with science fiction has a hard, fast-paced storyline which has inspired many Hollywood movies and had a great influence on “The Matrix”. As one of the best anime movies, this movie is an undeniable must in your collection.

8. “Grave of the Fireflies” has been tagged as the greatest anti-war movie of all time. This delightful creation highlights the plight of war orphans. A brother and sister are followed through their arduous fight for survival when Japan faced war during the Second World War. Anime was for the first time used as a medium to relay the most heartfelt of stories.

9. “Paprika”can be watched over and over and you will discover something new every time. A great feat of the imagination, this movie centers on Paprika and her team’s efforts to recover a stolen dream machine. This dream machine enables doctors to see the dreams of patients. The entire movie shifts and merges reality and the dream world, shaping the consciousness of even the mere spectator.

10. “Tokyo GodFathers” is a very entertaining and thought-provoking story about three homeless friends. The three musketeers, a homeless man, a young girl and a transvestite, find a deserted newborn in a city dumpster. Determined by their own personal experiences and fears, they embark on a journey to find the baby’s parents.

(CTS) Hinamatsuri (Doll’s Festival)

19 Feb

“Hinamatsuri (Doll’s Festival)” is held on March 3rd. This is a day to pray for young girl’s growth and happiness. It is also called “Momo no sekku (Peach Festival)” because of the peach blossom season on the old lunar calendar. May 5th is “Kodomo no hi (Children’s Day),” and this is so called “Boy’s Festival.” While Children’s Day is a national holiday, Hinamatsuri is not.

Origin and customs
The custom of displaying dolls began during the [[Heian period] hi. Formerly, people believed the dolls possessed the power to contain bad spirits. Hinamatsuri traces its origins to an ancient Japanese custom called hina-nagashi (雛流し, lit. “doll floating”), in which straw hina dolls are set afloat on a boat and sent down a river to the sea, supposedly taking troubles or bad spirits with them. The Shimogamo Shrine (part of the Kamo Shrine complex in Kyoto) celebrates the Nagashibina by floating these dolls between the Takano and Kamo Rivers to pray for the safety of children. People have stopped doing this now because of fishermen catching the dolls in their nets. They now send them out to sea, and when the spectators are gone they take the boats out of the water and bring them back to the temple and burn them.

The customary drink for the festival is shirozake, a sake made from fermented rice. A colored hina-arare, bite-sized crackers flavored with sugar or soy sauce depending on the region, and hishimochi, a diamond-shaped colored rice cake, are served.Chirashizushi (sushi rice flavored with sugar, vinegar, topped with raw fish and a variety of ingredients) is often eaten. A salt-based soup called ushiojiru containing clams still in the shell is also served. Clam shells in food are deemed the symbol of a united and peaceful couple, because a pair of clam shells fits perfectly, and no pair but the original pair can do so.Families generally start to display the dolls in February and take them down immediately after the festival. Superstition says that leaving the dolls past March 4 will result in a late marriage for the daughter.

Aims
Most families with girls display “hina-ningyo” (special dolls for Hinamatsuri, see the photo below) and dedicate peach blossoms to them. They are usually arranged on a five or seven-tiered stand covered with a red carpet. At the top are the Emperor and Empress. The next step contains three court ladies (sannin-kanjo), followed by five musicians (gonin-bayashi), two ministers (udaijin and sadaijin), and three servants ending the bottom row in a five-tiered display. There are also small pieces of furniture, small meal dishes, and other things.
