Hwanhee trashes 2,000 copies of his new album

21 Jul

Hwanhee last release was a digital single with May Doni, entitled “Strangers,” in December 2010. Since then, he has not released any new songs. He revealed on May 19th that he had finished recording a new studio album, but was unsure of the title track or the release date.

The time has finally come. Hwanhee will be releasing his latest album, “죽을 것만 같아 (I Feel Like I’m Going to Die)” on July 29th. However, similar to Infinite’s album production problem, Hwanhee has already trashed over 2,000 copies of his new album.

His agency stated, “Just a week before the album’s release on July 29th, the initial 2,000 copies of the album have been disposed of. There were some fine differences that we had to fix.”

The agency continued, “It is an album full of heart and soul and we wanted to dispose of anything that was less than perfection.” They also stated, “Right now, the problem is releasing the album on the 29th. It may cost the company more money, but fans will be satisfied with the complete album.”

Hwanhee debuted twelve years ago with Brian Joo as the duo Fly To The Sky. His new mini album will celebrate the R&B ballad tracks that he has performed since his debut. Brian Joo has been promoting Hwanhee’s upcoming album. Brian Joo tweeted, “Hey y’all, my BEST friend @ducati0117 a.k.a. Hwanhee’s new album “죽을 것만 같아” (I Feel Like I’m Going to Die) will be released on 7/29/2011 ;)”

YG Entertainment and Avex join forces as YGEX

21 Jul

Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment just revealed its upcoming plans through a press conference. The company will be working together with Japanese label Avex in the future, as both companies are set to unite in the form of a new label called “YGEX”. The creation of this label will bring a bright future for YG artists who’re trying to break into Japan as they’re being backed by one of Japan’s biggest labels. They will, however, not be binding themselves to Asia, but will spread the “YG Pop” sound through the whole world.

The name is “YGEX”, attributing to the collaboration of YG FAMILY “YG” with AVEX “EX”. “EX” also inspired by words like “EXPERIENCE” and “EXCLUSIVE”, carries connotations of it being the one and only label you can experience YG FAMILY.

The collaboration between YG, not bound to just Asia now spreading as a worldwide trend “YG POP”, and AVEX who has always innovated and led the Japanese music scene, is definitely a match up bound to create a new and unpredictable form of entertainment.

YGEX’s official website was also launched during the event and features links to the 5 currently active YG artists Psy, Se7en, 2NE1, Big Bang and Gummy. The site is available in Korean, Japanese and English.

In the meantime it was also revealed that solo singer Gummy will be returning in October with a new release. She will be working together with another YG Family member for her comeback.

Solo singer Se7en will also be making his comeback in the near future, with the release of a new mini album.

Together with all this exciting news, YG also revealed plans for an upcoming YG Family concert in Japan.

21 Jul

Park Yoochun and Lee Dahae’s absence on the drama’s celebration party has caused some speculations online. Following the drama’s finale, the production team threw a celebration party, with their lead actors Park Yoochun and Lee Dahae unable to attend.

To clarify the issue, an official from Lee Daehae’s office confirmed that, “In relation to her activities in China, she had be shooting on that day. As it was not possible to remove this from her schedule, she was inevitably not able to attend the party. It is not due to any conflicts with any of the crew.”

Meanwhile, Park Yoochun’s representatives also declared that, “There was a shooting for an advertisement scheduled during this day. This was scheduled before deciding to participate in the drama so we could not avoid it. We were planning for him to attend after the shooting a little later, but the shooting ran later than we expected so it was not possible.”

The clarifications were sent after the two lead actors from the hit drama were unable to attend which sparked online speculations that the absences were due to a feud between the two. Both parties have now explained that the two stars were not able to attend because of their schedules.

After School subgroups release MV teasers

19 Jul

Just last week, girl group After School confirmed the final sub-group line-ups for their upcoming round of promotions. A.S. Red members Kahi, Jungah, Nana, and UEE will showcase a sexy, powerful concept that will highlight their strong vocals, while A.S. Blue members Jooyeon, Raina, Lizzy, and E-Young will demonstrate a sweet/cute concept with summery looks.

So far, the sub-groups’ individual concept photos and jacket covers have been revealed. A.S. Blue has also revealed their tracklist.

Most recently, Pledis Entertainment revealed MV teasers from both sub-groups. A.S. Red’s debut MV will be “In the Night Sky”, while A.S. Blue’s will be for “Wonder Boy”.

A.S. Red’s “In the Night Sky” MV teaser relies on synthesizer and close-ups of the individual members. It previews a few seconds of the choreography before cutting to a shot of the girls overlooking what appears to be the cityscape.

A.S. Blue’s “Wonder Boy” MV teaser is light and breezy, kicking it off with string instrumentals and the girls beaming at the camera and playing with props like the telephone and gigantic balloons. The “Wonder Boy” MV teaser shows more of the sub-group’s choreography than does A.S. Red’s teaser.

After School will be making their Japanese debut with a Japanese remake of their hit song “Bang!”; just yesterday they released an MV teaser for the track.

Are you looking forward to the After School subgroups’ upcoming promotions? What do you expect from the subgroups’ full MVs?
