2PM Interview On “BOSS” Official Website

23 May

Korea’s No. 1 boys group 2PM appears in “BOSS” episode 6!

After debuting in Korea in 2008, they stood in the limelight, making a breakthrough in one bound. They then swept away various awards, and now, having finally made their Japan debut in May this year, this boys group 2PM will appear on episode 6 of “BOSS”.

In contrast with the original idol image, 2PM is a 6-member group called the “beastly idols” because of their wild, testosterone-filled vibe. These boys will star in an episode with our BOSS, Osawa Eriko (Amami Yuki) and the members of her division!

Their joint scene has 2PM doing their biggest seller: a cool and sexy performance. How will it turn out? Check out the details in the episode airing on 26 May (Thurs). Now, we shall introduce 2PM’s comments about their appearance!

Special interview with 2PM
We’ve asked the group a few questions! >>>>>

Q1. What was it like, appearing in “BOSS”?
TAEC: I was shocked when I heard about our appearance, but it’s truly an honor.
CHAN: I’ll do my very best to be of some help to the cast.
JUNHO: I’m just so very honored to have the opportunity to appear in a popular Japanese drama, and I’m also really happy that the lead actress, Amami Yuki-san, treated us kindly.
KHUN: I’m very honored, and I hope we can try out more Japanese dramas from here on.
JUNSU: I’m extremely happy and honored that we can appear in the drama as 2PM.
WOO: At first, I was really shocked to hear about our appearance in “BOSS”, and it drove me to work harder on Japanese. I think I still have a lot to learn, so I’ll work even harder with the hopes that we’ll get a casting call again.

Q2. All of you appeared as yourselves, but please tell us the highlights of that scene.
TAEC: The zombie dance, the group acrobatics, and last of all… the part where we rip our clothes open. (laughs)

Q3. Japanese fans participated in the shoot as well. What was it like, interacting with them?
CHAN: We didn’t expect so many fans to come, so we were quite surprised. We gained strength from their support, so we managed to work even harder.

Q4. If you could appear in a Japanese drama in the future, what role would you want to play?
CHAN: I’d like to star in many kinds of dramas, but more than that, I’m very grateful for the opportunity to have activities in Japan.
TAEC: Considering it realistically…. I’d like to play a Korean character. (laughs) I want to play the role of a Korean who studied Japanese and came to Japan, with the hopes that the role can give courage to these people in real life.
WOO: I love the drama called “Hotaru no Hikari”, starring Ayase Haruka-san, so I hope to play a character that’s just as innocent and cheerful.
JUNSU: I’ve never actually thought about that, but… if I had to choose, I’d like to try playing a Japanese high school student.
KHUN: I’m still lacking in Japanese, so a character I could play at this point would be, of course, a foreigner.
JUNHO: I wanted to try playing a high school student too…
KHUN: So appear in the drama as Junsu’s friend. (laughs)
JUNHO: Okay. I also want to take on a character like Ryuzaki* in “Death Note”. I really like that sort of vibe.

Q5. Please give a message to the viewers of “BOSS”.
TAEC: I think a lot of people will learn about us for the first time by watching “BOSS”. We’re always working hard to give a passionate stage performance, so if this piques your interest, I hope you can support us. Please give us a lot of love.
CHAN: For those who are watching us for the first time, you may find us a little strange, but once you get to know us well, maybe you’ll think we’re actually not bad. (laughs) Please continue to support us.
WOO: Our appearance in the drama was brief, so it may be hard to know everything about us from that scene. We’ll do our very best in our activities from here on, so I hope that, in the future, you could spend a lot of time watching and learning about us.
JUNSU: It’d be great if you could understand that we’re a performance group by watching the drama. We have different performances too, depending on the song, so I hope you will keep watching us.
KHUN: We’ve released a single called “Take Off”, so if any of you take a liking to us after watching “BOSS”, please check it out. Please give us your support!
JUNHO: We want to give everyone in Japan great songs to listen to. We’ll do our best!

*T/N: “Ryuzaki” is one of the many aliases of a character called “L” from the popular Japanese manga, “Death Note”.

Interview with Jaejoong: On Twitter Changes; On Loneliness; On Wishing for More Activities; On His Tears and Desire to Meet with Fans

11 Apr

[Star Interview] JYJ Kim Jaejoong, “Loneliness—Overcoming it with Music.”

JYJ’s member Kim Jaejoong. The expression on his face, whom I met prior to the (actual) interview, was bright, and his voice was cheerful. He said that he “drank a few glasses of beer” on the interview that took place immediately prior to this one and suggested that this interview also double as a second round.

The place in which Jaejoong finished his interview with the other paper was a café in Shinmunro, Seoul. We moved to a pub in Samsungdong, where he used to live once. Inside of the car with which we moved together, he started to talk about his recent interests in order to ease the atmosphere (T/N: presumably, the reporter and Jaejoong are strangers). Actually, the talk was on the misunderstandings and the truths that mire Japan’s earthquakes and radioactivity. He struck me as a man of considerable insight. I asked him: “do you read a lot of newspapers and books?” The response that was passed to me was: “I learn more things from people than books.”

When we arrived to the pub, he poured out a few cell phones onto the aluminum table. There were six cell phones, and among them were some models that he used to use in Japan. Apparently, he does not differentiate between the cell phones as “for work” or “for family.” He also deleted many of his contacts, which at one time numbered over 1,000.

“As we push through on (only) our own strength, there was a person or two who drifted away. And, as I refrain from contacting them because I felt sad (T/N: literally, “disappointed”) (at their drifting away), it seems that the people around me are reducing (in number)… But even so, to me—I have the Members and the Fans.”

Inside Kim Jaejoong’s words were complexity. He wrote on his twitter profile “JYJ from TVXQ,” and on the day of the interview he posted a tweet reading “JYJ.” Could it be that the past and the present, the dream and the reality are muddled together?

“That TVXQ is my beginning is obvious and is unchanging. I didn’t put any other special meaning into it (T/N: changing his profile to “JYJ from TVXQ”). On posting the (tweet) that read “JYJ,” it was because upon waking up in the morning I all of a sudden felt that the whole of my life was “JYJ.” The period (at the end)? Um, that really had no particular meaning… Haha.”

In the interviews that he had with a few media sources, Kim Jaejoong brought out even private stories, such as “I’ve dated 4 women,” without concealing. He confessed his complicated and intricate family story and other things, but he said that the story that he really wanted to tell was on “music.”

“I learned so much by taking charge of all of the directing of the stage for the Thailand concert. As I took on the title of “executive director,” there were many worries. If it goes well, then it’s thanks to the staff, but if it does not go well, then it’s my fault—I had such worries too. Since I’d already made up my mind, I wanted to be responsible for everything. I went (to the venue) earlier, prior to the concert, and checked detail by detail from the placement of the stage to the routes of movement. It’s fortunate that it ended will, but in truth, it’s largely thanks to Junsu and Yoochun. Haha.”

The past 2nd and 3rd in the concert hall of Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, JYJ met with 22,000 or so fans through their World Tour 2011. Kim Jaejoong, with the staff, made everything—from the lights, movement paths, costumes, and the like. To check the time that it takes to move under the stage in order to prepare for the next stage, he took at stop watch and ran (the distance) himself.

“Because I am a singer who sing songs, I’ve often thought “ah, what would it be like if there was this such part.” If I come to direct often in the future, wouldn’t I be able to create a more perfect stage?”

This World Tour will cross major cities of Asia and North America and will decorate its splendid finale on June 11 and 12th in Korea. Kim Jaejoong is a beginner director but he was confident that he will improve little by little and will become complete in the future. The surprise revealing of the self-made songs of JYJ members through the concert was also a novel present for the fans.

“As the fans also probably felt, I think that nowadays our musical color changed slightly. In the past, we didn’t have songs like “Fallen Leaves.” It is true that we wondered whether we could do a song that did not have a beat. In order to keep pursuing change, I am thinking about studying harmonics. As I create songs, it seems, also, that I need the theoretical background as well.”

As time passed, as the glasses of soju emptied, inside his words was his inner heart rather than jokes. Jaejoong talked about his inner heart that he felt while looking at the incidents relating to his former agency, the few colleagues and juniors who are changing little by little, and the wall from the world that is becoming erected without his knowledge as he receives hurt. Most of all, he repeated, over and over, that he wished to do activities that are varied, like the other members.

That he had a swelled heart that hoped that when the conflict with the former agency died down, he would be able to meet with the fans often through TV– is his revelation of his true feelings. The image of Jaejoong who sometimes shows tears during fan meetings floated to my mind. At my question that asked whether he was lonely, he instead responded with laughter.

“Where and how shall I meet with fans? Actually, the majority of recent worries is precisely that. I believe that everything will be okay. I plan to sing for all of my life, I can’t become worn out. Haha.”

2pm interview from MINI magazine

2 Apr

Jpn-Eng: sakiHa @2pmalways | Edited by Egle @2pmalways

“Beast Idol” 2PM’s exciting stay in Japan
Beastly and wild look they show us on stage, paired up with cute and innocent character. 2PM captivate girls in Asian countries with these contradictions. People call them “Jimseung-dol (Beastly idol)”! After experiencing the long stay in Japan for the first time in February, I heard a lot of stories from the boys.

Khun– I went to a toyshop in Ginza with Wooyoung in our free time. I had no idea which one to buy because there were a lot of rare items!
Taec– I went out for window- shopping in Shibuya with the other members. Shibuya looks like Myeongdong in Korea, but it is such a busy and vibrant city. I was glad that some people recognized us.
Woo– There were many rare hamsters and small animals at a pet shop in Odaiba. I wish I could take them to Korea.
Su– I like Japanese fashion style. Shopping time cannot be too long for me. I bought some jackets from Adidas and Jeremy Scott

Everyone said the food was the most memorable thing during this long stay.
Ho– I cannot forget the taste of So-ki soba which I had in Okinawa. You’ll find no food tastes like that in Korea.
Su– Sushi! But I didn’t get a chance to eat ootoro tuna~
Khun– Tonkotsu ramen was really good. When I go to Kyushu, I’ll go to eat the real Kyushu tonkotsu ramen for sure!
Woo– I liked the eel-lunch box. It was so soft and melted as soon as I put into my mouth.
Chan– It was so new to me to eat a raw chicken.
Khun– True! My parents used to tell me to eat only well cooked chicken! I was so surprised.

Not only raw chicken, the boys seemed to be surprised at the cultural differences.
Woo– I was surprised the taxi doors opened automatically. The driver stopped me when I tried to open the door. And the door opened by itself! I thought it was a horror story at the first time.
Taec– When we went to the beach in Okinawa, there were no people on the beach. I thought it was a desert island. I will go there again in private-time for sure.
Su– Cities are so clean and easy to live in Japan. There’s no dirt on the road. No matter how you look at it, you’ll love the night view there.
Chan– Fashion is cutting edge and it stimulates me. I’d like to visit Harajuku when I come to Japan next time.
Ho– I want to go shopping in Ura Harajuku because I like vintage clothes.

We are curious about their ideal woman.
Woo– It seems that Japanese people are kind and warm- hearted. I like the way our fans have good manners and watch for us.
Ho– Japanese girls know themselves and pick right clothes by themselves. I like stylish girls.

By the way, Taecyeon thinks the character is more important than the looks.
Taec– I like a girl who is very tough, but when I am down, I want her to cheer me up tenderly.
Chan– Do you want me to teach you a phrase for when you find a favorite girl? It’s “Itsukara sonnani kawaiino? (Since when are you so pretty?)”
Taec– It sounds too much. Do they even like such a phrase nowadays?! (laugh)
Ho– Only a drama heroine does!

They will debut in Japan on May 18th with a single called [Take Off]
Woo– In Korea, we have many dark and strong songs. However, [Take Off] is a very positive and fresh song. I think you’ll see a new version of us.
Taec– This song tells you to take a new step into a new world, and it also represents us well.
Chan– The difficult thing when I recorded was the accent. [Tsu] [Chi] [Za] sounds were very hard…(cries)
Khun– We took on this action of a plane about to take off into the dance. It’s so easy for you to try! I hope you guys enjoy dancing with us.

They are now getting ready for their first tour.
Ho– It will be like a party-concert so that you all can enjoy.
Chan– I hope you’ll come to see our burning stage!!!
